Hi,

I would like to know if is it possible to send and receive messages through teams with a shared mailbox?

The scenario is that currently, we have a regular mailbox with a common user/password that people are using for a specific purpose we need to use a shared mailbox instead for security reasons.

so the question is if we change the account from a regular account to a shared mailbox can we have a way for them to continue using the shared mailbox in teams to send/receive messages?

    Hi Reza,

Thank you for posting on the forum today. I'm Bambi, a user like you and I'll be happy to assist you.

Yes, it is possible to use a shared mailbox in Teams to send and receive messages. However, the features available for shared mailboxes in Teams are limited. You can create and update meetings, manage meeting recordings, manage breakout rooms, and set up audio conferencing using a shared mailbox in Teams. To access a shared mailbox in Teams, you can set up a forward on the shared mailbox and send it to a channel inside the new Team. Right-click a channel and “Get e-mail address” and you can use that e-mail address as the forward address. I hope this would serve as workaround for you as there is no official shared mailbox on Teams. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

    Best Regards, Bambi

thanks but it didn't work for me.

now my question is what if we give a license to the shared mailbox and give people access to that?

so basically this way we can take advantage of both regular mailbox and shared mailbox correct? because in theory, i think we can give access to the mailbox to people plus being able to send teams messages from it.
