What happened to the spellcheck feature on the new Teams??

I have notice that the spell check seems to be broken on the new Teams version. The incorrectly spelled word still gets underlined in red, and a suggestion list populates as it used to, but the suggestions are ridiculous. A perfect example is the word "definitely".

Some additional info for people who've been replying to this thread.

The issue isn't so much to do with Teams as it is the Windows 11 operating system. I've confirmed this by testing on Windows 10 & 11 and with the new & old Teams clients. I've also confirmed this by encountering the same poor spelling suggestions when filling out forms in the Edge browser on Windows 11.

It just happens that Teams uses the OS's spellcheck and not a dedicated spellcheck mechanism like desktop versions of Office products do.

Now, you can go into Edge settings, and change the "Enable grammar and spellcheck assistance" from "Basic" to "Microsoft Editor" - for improved spellchecking in Edge - but, that doesn't carry over to Teams unfortunately.

Also, I received an update for the case I have open with Microsoft support: "...the latest the fix can come is late February or early March..." and "The fix could come sooner"

So, yeah - pretty vague still. But its in the pipeline and should be coming out the first quarter hopefully.

lol this answer is not helpful.. i have the newest teams version and its clearly not an update or dictionary problem.. the problem is with teams... if i misspell "Because" as "Becuase", every single other program i have ever used, microsoft office, word, emails, websites.. literally all other programs would understand "I need to suggest BECAUSE to fix this spelling error.. where Teams suggests: Became, Bemuse, Decease, Recuse, and Bocuse... the fact Because isnt an option is clearly a flaw in Teams... even simple things like "YOULL", should be suggesting "YOU'LL" but instead it says: Yell, Yowl, foul, yolk, and Yul.... again.. that is Teams not being programmed the way all other programs are.

Welcome to my world! I am not the best at typing, so I count on basic auto-correct. The options it gives now are so bad that I don't use it and just figure it out myself manually. I do not understand how even if it is using the basic dictionary from the OS how does it not have the most basic of English words!

Further mor the tech I was working with from Microsoft thanked me for letting them know what I had learned about the problem. They don't seem to know the first thing about this issue. So frustrating.

They cannot fix this soon enough!

So, I found changing the language in TEAMS s to English (Canada) does a much better job of giving the correct spelling...it's not perfect but it's light years better than the others.
