Teams for Education - not able to assign to individual students

All of the information I have seen suggests that I can assign an assignment to the whole class, to a group of students or select individual students (see Create an assignment in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support)

When I try and create an assignment I am only given two options in the drop down:

  • All current students
  • All current and future students.

There are no options to select students individually or as a group.

I see the same options whether I am using the Teams desktop or online app.

I have gone into Assignment settings for the team but there is nothing in the settings that relates to this.

    The issue resolved itself once I contacted our IT admin. Clearly they have some control over this.

    According to the Microsoft Support page, you should be able to create group assignments or assign to individual students in Microsoft Teams for Education. When creating a new assignment, you can select the student dropdown under "Assign to" and choose "Groups of students" or select individual student names. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/create-group-assignments-or-assign-to-individual-students-37809738-57e6-4176-86c5-751adfe0e03a. If you are not seeing these options, it could be due to a glitch or an issue with the service.
