MS teams bluetooth headset not working after update

I am using a bluetooth device ( oticon connect clip) to connect my hearing aids to a Win11 PC. It works fine for streaming audio. The device has multiple ways of connecties and shows with a LED color what mode is used. I prefer the device to stream only, and not to work as a headset, that includes a microphone.

Before the last teams update, it worked fine. Hoever, now, it stoppen working for teams only.

Although I selected to use the headPHONES, the LED on the device shows that it switches to headSET when starting a call. I disabled the headset in device manager. As the result, no sound.

Restarting the call, sometimes has a working device, but still in headSET mode. Teams crashes frequently.

Why is teams not just using the selected bluetooth headPHONES? How can I stop teams detecting headSET that has been disabled?

Again, it worked fine before the update.

The same issue is on my side. A few days ago, I used Sony WH-1000XM4 as a speaker and Creative Live! Cam as camera and mic. Now, I have to use the embedded mic in WH-1000XM4. If I use the Creative mic, I have no sound on my headphones.

I have a similar issue as does a colleague of mine.

My bluetooth speaker won't work when I make outgoing calls. It works (most of the time) on incoming calls.

Everything was working fine until a few days ago and I have tried everything I can think of, accessed all the different sound settings and device settings and just can't get it to work.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled and it still doesn't work.

    Hello Johof,

    * I am a Microsoft user like you, providing solutions to community members; I am NOT a Microsoft employee.

You're right, the Teams update seems to be causing issues with your Oticon Connect Clip functioning as headphones instead of a headset. Here are some steps you can try to fix it:

    1. Manage Teams Audio Settings: Open Teams and go to Settings (three dots) > Devices. Under Audio devices, ensure you've selected your Oticon Connect Clip for both Speakers and Microphone (if you want microphone functionality). Note: You might need to select "Oticon Connect Clip - Stereo" for Speakers if your device offers separate options.
    2. Disable Hands-Free Mode: Some Bluetooth devices have a hands-free mode that activates the microphone. Look for settings in the Oticon app or device controls to disable hands-free mode if available. Disabling it might prevent Teams from automatically switching to headset mode.
    3. Update Bluetooth Drivers: Outdated Bluetooth drivers can lead to compatibility issues. Update your Bluetooth drivers by following these steps: Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager. Expand Bluetooth. Right-click on your Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
    4. Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers (if Update Doesn't Work): If updating the driver doesn't work, try reinstalling it. In Device Manager (as mentioned in step 3), right-click on your Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device. Check the box to "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted. Restart your computer, and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
    5. Temporarily Disable Microphone in Windows Settings: This is a temporary workaround to prevent Teams from detecting the microphone. Go to Windows Settings > Sound > Sound settings. Under Input, find your Oticon Connect Clip and disable it. Remember to re-enable it when you need microphone functionality.
    6. Check for Teams App Updates: Make sure you're using the latest version of Teams. Bugs in previous versions might be fixed in updates. Open Teams, click on your profile picture, and select "Check for updates" to install any available updates.
    7. Try a Different Bluetooth Connection: If possible, connect another Bluetooth device (like headphones) to your computer and see if Teams recognizes it correctly. This can help isolate the issue to your Oticon device or Teams settings.

If none of these solutions work, you might need to consider reporting the issue to Microsoft Teams support. They might have further insights specific to your device and Teams version. You can report the issue through the Teams app itself (Help > Send feedback).

    Hope this helps.
