Hi,

I installed the new teams since the teams classic on my work laptop does not work (Cannot be opened). Now the new teams is not in the same language (English) as the computer but the local language of the country I am located. Windows settings are already set in English. How can I change the "Teams New" language to English?

Thanks

    Hi,

I had exactly the same issue: new Win 11 install, everything set to US English, Teams appears in German.

What helped was the first option of Stephen's post, slightly modified:

In Teams settings "Appearance and accessibility", it was set to English US already. Still, it appeared in German.

So I set it to German, hit "save and restart", opened settings again and set it to English US, save and restart again.

Since then, Teams display language is English as it should be.

    Hello RR_!@(_xn,

I am a Microsoft user like you, providing solutions to community members; I am NOT a Microsoft employee.

You are absolutely right, the language of "Teams New" (presumably Microsoft Teams) should ideally follow your system language settings. Here are a couple of ways to adjust the Teams language to English:

    1. In-App Language Settings (Most Likely): Microsoft Teams offers built-in language settings that you can adjust independently of your system language. Here's how to find them: Open the Microsoft Teams app on your work laptop. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner. Go to Settings > General (or Appearance depending on your Teams version). Look for a section on "Language" or "App Language." There should be a dropdown menu where you can select English as the preferred language. Save the changes and restart the Teams app if prompted.
    2. Web App Language Settings (Alternative): If the in-app settings are unavailable, you can try changing the Teams language through the web app version: Go to https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/log-in in your web browser. Sign in with your work or school account. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner. Go to Settings > General. Look for a section on "Language" or "App Language." Select English as the preferred language and save the changes.
    3. Check for Updates: In some cases, outdated Teams versions might have language display issues. Ensure you have the latest Teams update installed. Here's how to check (if applicable on your work laptop):

Open the Teams app. Click on your profile picture or initials. Go to Settings > Help & About. Check for updates and install them if available.

Additionally, t's possible that your IT department has enforced specific language settings for Teams within your organization. If the above methods don't work, you might need to check with your IT department to see if they can adjust the language settings for your account. Restart Required: After making any language changes, make sure to restart the Teams app or web app for the new language to take effect.

By following these steps, you should be able to switch the language in "Teams New" (Microsoft Teams) to English and have a consistent experience with your system language. If you're still facing issues or your IT department has restrictions, reaching out to your IT support might be necessary.

    Hope this helps

    -Stephen N.

    Hi,

I had the same issue. I uninstalled the desktop app and went to Teams web version and

change language in "Appearance and accessibility" setting and hit "save and restart".

I downloaded and installed again the desktop app from the page and the problem was solved.

That's really helpful, I made it successful by doing this approach. Thanks

The new Teams is really stupid!! a lot of issues, now I am still not able to sign in with my work & School account, even though it works fine after disconnecting the work account, but if I re-connect to my work & school account, the Teams is not working and showing an error msg to ask for restart, anyway, restart does not solve the problem.
