microphone does not work using Teams

I am using a Dell Inspiron 15 7591 2-in-1 notebook with Windows 11 Pro version 22H2. When I plug in a wired headphone using the jack on the side of the notebook, or if I try to use a Bluetooth headphone, Teams when I make a test call will not recognize the microphone although it shows the mic from the headphone in Teams device settings. I'm not sure if it is a Windows setting that is overriding the Teams setting, but I've tried different configurations and not able to get it to work.

    Thank you for reaching out,

I understand teams does not recognize your external Mic device.

We can first ensure the teams app is up to date and also try using Teams on the web ( teams.live.com) to see if the device recognized on the web.

Here are some solutions to help you resolve the device mic issue.

Check privacy settings: To use your mic in Teams, you might need to change privacy settings on your device or on the web to give Teams access to it.

On your device, go to Settings > Privacy & security. Select Microphone. Turn on the Microphone access toggle. Turn on the Let apps access your microphone toggle. If Microsoft Teams appears here, make sure its toggle is turned on. Turn on the Let desktop apps access your microphone toggle. Close all apps and restart your device.

    On the web:

Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > View permissions and data stored across sites. From here, enter “teams.microsoft.com” in the Search field. Open the "Microsoft.com" group and scroll down to find "teams.microsoft.com" and select it. Here, set the Microphone and Camera to Allow access to these devices.

see more details in the link below:

    Regards.

F&*& you to the moon microsoft. This software doesn't work and I just missed out on a meeting with a HUGE client because my mic WOULD NOT WORK. And no it wasn't the privacy setting. I was on a different call 10 minutes before this one on Google Meets and everything worked fine, now on Teams no one can hear me. Fantastic, thanks so much for making me look like a fool during this potentially life changing meeting. Every time I try to Google a solution, every single post just says to look at the privacy settings.

HI Jackson, I've tried the solution above, including a device restart and it did not work. An internal video application is using my bluetooth microphone, but Teams will not. Any other suggestions?

Teams is the worst tool for meetings. Same issue, no solution for many years.
