I recently raised this case with Microsoft Support.

This hasn't been recognised as a service outage issue yet but I believe it will eventually as this is something that has affected one of my users as well.

I encourage all admins to create a report on the issue via Help/Support in the admin panel.

There are some workaround I wanted to share here as this may help you with your users who are experiencing this.

Workaround 1: Load Teams online via Edge browser and then revert to old version of Teams. I can confirm that this worked for me.

Workaround 2: From within the new version of Teams, adding the number via Speed Dial option in the "Calls" section allows you to create the contact.

If both workarounds to not work for you, I highly recommend reaching out to Microsoft if you have the appropriate channels to do so.

The more people we have reporting on this via the approved methods, the quicker a fix can be pushed out / the issue is investigated.

    Hope this helps :)

YES, I have the same issue. Old Teams worked fine for saving contacts. We switched to New Teams and can no longer save any phone contacts. Desktop or web. We get the error message. Frustrating!

Same issue here, tested on different laptops. We cannot save a number as Contact from the History list, only if I manually add the entry with number on the Contact list.

    Teams version:  24033.811.2738.2546

    Client version: 49/24020205515

"Old" Teams works ok with this.

    Dear Ermenegildo Casarin,

Based on the information, and since there are some other users reported the similar issue, as I mentioned in my previous reply, there might be some backend issues which would cause this error, in this situation, please contact Microsoft Teams support for further assistance. Please use the admin account to go to Office 365 Admin Center-> Support-> New Service Request. The support engineers there have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue. You can refer to this article to check the way how to raise a ticket: Ways to contact support for business products - Admin help. The engineers in related team have higher permission and resources than us to help check the root cause from background directly*.*

I was wondering that whetehr you would consider contacing the support team for futher assiatance? At t he same time, if you don't mind, would you please vote for this reply, so that others who have the same issue would know this service issue and can contact the support team to find some solutions/workarounds. Thanks in advance!

I wish you good health and all the best!

    Sincerely,

    Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderator
