Happen to have a case number?
Microsoft Team homepage 401 unauthorized error.
I am using Microsoft Teams for education. Some users get 401 unauthorized errors when they access the class team's homepage. But it is not happening on the web.
Any suggestion?

2024-06-03T09:27:05+00:00 Hi!
I have the same problem, but how did you update the Edge Webview2 application? I don't even know where to find the app itself...
ETA: Never mind, it seems that resetting the Teams desktop app fixed the problem, at least for now.

The solution for me was
Updating the Edge Webview2 application.

2024-05-03T16:52:59+00:00 Thank you. Clearing the cache fixed the "401 Unauthorized" error for the home page.
Note though: had to reboot after clearing the cache for it to work.

2024-04-11T10:37:59+00:00 Hello Asut_576,
A 401 Unauthorized error on the Microsoft Teams desktop app for education users specifically points towards an issue with user permissions or authentication. Here are some steps the users can take to troubleshoot the problem:
- Update Teams App: Ensure users have the latest version of the Teams app installed. Updates often include bug fixes and security improvements.
- Restart Devices: A simple device restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches that might be causing the error.
- Sign Out and Sign Back In: A simple sign-out and sign-back in can sometimes refresh the user's credentials and resolve temporary permission issues.
- Check Internet Connection: Ensure users have a stable internet connection. A faulty connection can disrupt authentication processes.
- Clear Teams Cache: Corrupted cache data might be causing problems. Instruct users to clear their Teams app cache following the instructions for their specific operating system (https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/teams-administration/clear-teams-cache).
You can also perform some troubleshooting on the Admin end:
- Verify User Permissions: Double-check that users encountering the error have the necessary permissions to access the specific class team. Teams allows assigning different roles (owner, member, guest) with varying access levels.
- Check Azure Active Directory (AAD) Sync: If your organization uses AAD for user management, ensure proper synchronization between AAD and Microsoft Teams. Inconsistent information can lead to authentication errors.
- Microsoft 365 Service Status: Check the Microsoft 365 service status page (https://portal.office.com/servicestatus) for any ongoing issues with Teams that might be causing the 401 error.
Hope this helps you.
