Mute/Un-mute option on Taskbar doesn't work with New Teams

In older Teams version, I use the mute/unmute option on the Taskbar (Mic Icon) and it was a good feature. But in the new teams, when I click on the Icon to mute or Un-mute, it opens up the settings window. Seems like this feture doesn't work on the New MS Teams.

Hi, Arun. I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.

I am sorry you're unable to use the mute/unmute option. I understand this can be very frustrating. I deeply understand the issue has affected your work, I apologize for the inconvenience.

To help you with your issue, I have pulled the steps highlighted in the article on https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/mic-muteunmute-button-from-taskbar-its-missing-for/bd3d3b34-ae47-43b1-b0c5-d229fc01b890 by Shalom

"I understand your concern. It seems that the new Teams app has changed the functionality of the mic icon on the taskbar. In the new version, clicking on the mic icon takes you to the mic settings instead of muting/unmuting the mic.

This could be a design change in the new app, but it's also possible that it's a bug. I would recommend reporting this issue through the Teams app so that Microsoft can investigate and potentially resolve it.

In the meantime, you can use keyboard shortcuts to mute/unmute your mic in Teams. You can press Ctrl+Shift+M to toggle your mic on and off. Additionally, you can hold down Ctrl+Spacebar (Windows) or Option+Spacebar (Mac) to temporarily unmute yourself. When you release the key combination, your mic will be muted again."

I strongly recommend you make your grievances known on the Microsoft feedback portal. This is a direct way to contact the Developers to bring back or adopt any feature you may find important.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if this contradicts what you need. I remain helpful in answering any more of your questions.

    Warm Regards

    Femi
