Is it possible to have a chat within a "Team" under the Teams option?

Its the one thing im feeling like is missing since we have migrated across from slack.

Essentially, the posts are awesome for things like "Hey theres a bug on this page, how do we fix it" and then people can reply to that post and have a conversation. Or "I just found a great way to do task X much easier, what do you think?"

Or even, a more social post like "Is there a theme for the office christmas secret santa this year" or "Are we doing movember as a company again"

But what i feel like is missing is the things that just work better as a chat.

"Hey guys im running 5 minutes late to the stand up" doesnt need to be a post.

"Is anyone in the office, i need my computer reset" also doesnt need to be a post.

Is there any way to have a chat that just works within a Teams team? Or do i always have to leave the teams section and go to the chats section and then find a group chat that matches the team i want?

    Hi Luke

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself no one here is a Microsoft employee.

Unfortunately, there isn't a built-in feature for chat within Teams channels. So, if you want to chat with your team members without leaving the Teams section, you can use the Posts tab in a channel. However, if you want to chat with a few people privately, or if you don’t want to clutter the channel with messages that are not relevant to everyone, you can use the Chat tab and create a group chat with the people you want.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,
