Hello,

I am struggling to change my account from personal to a work account.

I am getting frustrated at the difficulty of making the change.

I have had gone through the settings and I am not quite sure where to make this switchover myself.

Can someone from Microsoft make the change from personal to work for me?

Otherwise, please give me clear instructions and steps on how to make my existing account change from personal to work.

Thank you 🙏

Hi alex, My name is Umar and I'd be happy to help you out with your question.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't offer a direct option to switch an existing personal account to a work account. and Microsoft typically recommends creating a new account for your work or school activities. To change your personal Microsoft account to a work account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Create a Work Account: Go to products.office.com and choose your business subscription. When you purchase your subscription, you'll be asked to enter the number of users you want to add. Follow the prompts to create a work account.
    2. Add Work Account to Devices: Once you have created a work account, add it to your devices. On your Windows 10 device, go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Access work or school." Click "Connect" and enter your work account credentials.
    3. Transfer Data: Transfer any data you want to keep from your personal account to your work account. This may include contacts, OneDrive files, and other data
    4. Delete Personal Account: Once you have transferred your data, you can delete your personal account. Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with your personal account. Click "Security" > "More security options" > "Close my account." Follow the prompts to close your account.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
