How can I disable emoticons in MS Teams? I find it unprofessional and irritating and I don't want it on my work account.

Whenever I type a specific combination of letters and/or characters or a 'featured' word I get a stupid picture/emoji popping up in place of the text that I wish to use - I don't want this and can't seem to turn this childish nonsense off.

Thank you. Typing ctrl+z after it replaces the emoji works.

This has been really frustrating as I am often working with code lines and logs and when I need <34> in brackets I dont want the <3 replaced with a animated heart.

I quote from the first response to this question: "Microsoft Teams doesn't have an option to disable auto emoji when typing." Why not? This, in my opinion, is highly unprofessional and just one of the many huge irritations with using any Microsoft product.

Thanks for your suggestion but it's a work account and as such I need to retain my audit trails and historic messages.

Microsoft simply need to add in an option to disable this rubbish rather than force it on everyone like we're children. It makes MS Chat appear more like a kid's toy than a serious professional app.

I completely agree with the comments here. I am trying to type 4:3 (as in the aspect ratio) on a OneNote file and it keeps adding a smiley emoji. So not only does it look unprofessional and childish, I can't even use the factually accurate method of writing this aspect ratio! In what world does that make sense?

Microsoft digging it's own grave. An operating system that's incredibly annoying to develop software with, a compiler that still can't handle path names longer than 256 characters (in 2023!!!) and a collaboration tool that replaces (Windows) with a DINOSAUR speak for themselves.

And nothing but unhelpful answers from the support staff.

Guys, you earn MILLIONS with your PROFESSIONAL work tools. FFS, do something sensible with our money!

Of course, as a software developer I know that it isn't particularly complicated to just add an additional checkbox option. Some reports of this "feature" are two years old and still nothing has happened. Make. It. Happen. Now!!!
