Add Planner app to Microsoft Chat

In Microsoft Teams I'm trying to add the app 'Planner' into a Teams Chat but unable to do this. I have the Planner app in my sidebar, but want to add it to a meeting chat so that I can add meeting actions and assign to attendees. If not possible, is there another way of assigning meeting actions to attendees within Teams Chat? Thanks

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply regarding this. However, the issue I have is when I have completed Step 3 in your instructions, the "Planner" app does not appear when I type the name in the search bar.

I have added the Planner app to my Teams sidebar, however when searching for it via the + in Chat it does not appear. Is there something I need to do within the Planner app for me to be able to add it to Chat?

    Thanks for your help,

    Dan

I have the same issue, and this solution does not work, as neither Planner nor Tasks appear in the list of available apps when I try to add them to a group chat.

    Is there any actual solution?

In reviewing the original post, I wanted to just clarify what the constraint is. Reviewing the following:

Note: The ability to add apps or tabs to a channel in Microsoft Teams depends on the privacy settings of the channel. In public channels, you can add apps like Planner, while in private channels, you can only add tabs. This is because private channels are designed to be more secure and limit access to certain content.

That specific line is really a call out to a team in Teams. So, it appears at the moment, you must have a team in Teams to pin it, but the functionality is not available in a Teams chat.

De Paul N. Kwizera MSFT, if I misinterpreted your post feel free to respond with a correction.

I understand you mention that it must be in a Channel, not a Teams Chat, but I wanted to let you know that your literature says that it is available in chat and teams channels...

Add and use a Planner tab in Microsoft Teams

Planner is a Microsoft 365 service that lets you generate boards containing all your team's tasks and assignments.

To add a Planner tab in Teams, just click Add a tab Add button next to your tabs at the top of a channel or chat. Select Planner, then do one of the following:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-and-use-a-planner-tab-in-microsoft-teams-83302f43-f821-47d0-8181-921c36437e22#articleFooterSupportBridge=communityBridge

I just want confirmation that this is a mistake and there is no way to add Planner to Chat?

    Hi!

We have the same issue - when trying to add Planner to a Teams Chat (NOT a Teams channel in a Team), the Planner app is not available to select. The issue we try to resolve is fairly easy to describe - we would like to have a planner board / list of tasks as a tab in a teams chat between 2 people, in order for them to manage the tasks together?

Is there a setting in Teams admin to enable this? It loooks like I can add similar third-party apps such Kanban Task Board or Trello, but not Planner itself.
