MS Teams Recording

Hello,

I have been given permission to record a meeting that I did not organize. Does the recording include screens that are not part of the meeting? Or does it just include the window of the meeting? (Ex. I switch between chrome, preview, messenger while the meeting was on). Thanks!

Hello Ma. Patricia Eunice T. Ancheta,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

If you record a Microsoft Teams meeting, the recording will only capture the shared content within the Teams meeting window—whether it's a presentation, screen share, or the meeting's video gallery. It won’t record anything outside the Teams application itself, like switching between Chrome, Preview, or Messenger windows that aren’t part of the meeting. So, if you navigate away from the Teams meeting window, only what’s actively being shared or shown within the Teams meeting will be recorded, not any external screens or applications you might be using at the same time.
