Yealink MP50 handset will not work with new version of MS Teams when powered off or a power loss happens

Yealink MP50 handset will not work with new version of MS Teams when powered off or a power loss happens

The handset will power on and display the date as 01/01 and the time as 00:00 after a power loss when on the new version of MS Teams.

The workaround currently is to change the MS Teams to the old version with the toggle switch on the left hand top side

Then power on the Yealink MP50 handset and wait for it to pick up the user profile

After is has successfully synced then the user can change to the new version of MS Teams which will keep the sync

This will become an issue in the near future when we no longer have the ability to change between the old and new version of MS Teams.

Please let me know if there is another solution or if this will be rectified in a future update

Thanks,

Marcel

Has there been any progress on a solution for New Teams and the Yealink MP50 phone connecting? We have 4 of these phones that were working until just recently, then 1 by 1 they are failing to connect to the computer and to the new Teams. I tried on one of the instances to use the Yealink USB Connect app as someone suggested on Reddit and in an earlier post but that didn't work, neither did switching back to the Classic Teams.

    Please help. Thanks.

The Polycom CX300 USB telephone also doesn't work with New Teams - i.e. it becomes a 'dumb' speaker and microphone rather than a functioning telephone with working buttons and a handset that you can lift to answer calls. The display also doesn't show any user information.

As soon as you switch back to 'old' Teams the Polycom CX300 works perfectly again. This is definitely a Microsoft issue with new Teams - I'm surprised this got through UAT?

    Hi Marcel,

I have been spending some time today with an MP50 we received recently. I noticed the same issues you described. My organization is about to switch to Teams phone in a couple weeks. I can't say I have a lot of experience with these devices.

However, I did notice that once I installed the "Yealink USB Connect" app on my workstation, the time began working again. I do not get my username to show up unless I use the legacy Teams application though. The Yealink app does provide a way to update the firmware on these phones, but mine was already up to date. The firmware is from November 2022.

It does seem to work with calls otherwise in the New Teams experience, just without the username showing on the MP50 Screen. I might perceive a little more delay in hanging up calls, but I can't be positive with my limited testing and experience with these devices.

    Best Regards

    Jason

    Hi Sherry,

Thanks for the information sent over.

We have checked the Yealink MP50 handsets and they have no option for a software upgrade therefore we can use the workaround for now but this will fail once the permanent move to the new MS teams is made on 31/03/2024.

Any other information would be greatly appreciated as we have 4 schools with approximately 250 handsets that will be affected meaning a loss of communication between departments, outside entities and other variables.

    Many thanks,

    Marcel
