Support for "Incoming Webhooks" in Teams

Hello Team,

Currently we are using the incoming webhooks in Teams to send the notifications across teams, However, we see there will be retirement for incoming webhooks in Teams by next year December 2025 as per last update.

https://devblogs.microsoft.com/microsoft365dev/retirement-of-office-365-connectors-within-microsoft-teams/

Just need confirmation from you people Is that time line is fixed for the support of incoming webhooks is extended to next year December 2025 or we have to replace with Power Automate or with any other connector in place of Incoming Webhooks by this Year end it self ( December 2024) because it's not easy to replace all the Teams URL's with new Office 365 connector in this limited time.

So, please confirm what is the exact time line for the retirement plan for Incoming Webhooks in Teams and Is it Ok we can keep using it till next year march then will start migrating to new Office 365 Connector from next Year April 2025?

Thanks,

Sagar

    Dear sagar k1

Thanks for your response! Very sorry for late reply!

Based on your further description, there is related information in the document you post in this thread, you can check below:

All existing connectors within all clouds will continue to work until December 2025, however using connectors beyond December 31, 2024 will require additional action.

    • Connector owners will be required to update the respective URL to post by December 31st, 2024. At least 90 days prior to the December 31, 2024 deadline, we will send further guidance about making this URL update.

So, at this present, you may not need to update the webhook URL, they will send further guidance about updating URL.

We can wait for updating. You can also track any updates from Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365.

Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!

    Sincerely,

    Dear sagar k1

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description, I understand you concern with "Incoming Webhooks" in Teams.

I do apologize that from this document you post here, it doesn't seem to be retirement for incoming webhooks in Teams. And there are no specific documents found regarding the retirement timeline for incoming webhooks in Teams.

All existing connectors within all clouds will continue to work until December 2025, however using connectors beyond December 31, 2024 will require additional action. It is only related to O365 connectors or other existing connectors.

Instead of O365 connectors, you can create incoming webhooks with Workflows for Microsoft Teams, you can refer to Create incoming webhooks with Workflows for Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support.

In the meanwhile, you can continue using the incoming webhooks until December 2025, but you will need to update the URLs by December 31, 2024. It is advisable to start planning the migration to Power Automate or another solution to ensure a smooth transition.

You can also track any updates from Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365.

If you have other questions, please feel free to let me know, I will continue to assist you.

Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Thanks Allen Ji MSFT,

I got your inputs but we are not using any workflows for incoming webhooks but instead we are using the Incoming webhook app to post the messages to teams channels.

So, please confirm me still we need to updated the webhook URL's or we can leave as it is and continue to use till next year?

    Dear sagar k1

    Thanks for your quick response!

Based on your further description, when we talk about updating URLs, it refers to the unique URLs that are used by your incoming webhooks to post messages to Teams channels. These URLs are specific to each webhook and are used to send JSON payloads with messages in card format to the Teams channels

To ensure that your incoming webhooks continue to work beyond December 31, 2024, you will need to update these URLs to the new workflow URLs provided by the Workflows app in Microsoft Teams. Here are the steps to do this:

Identify the Current Webhook URLs: Locate the existing webhook URLs that your applications are using to post messages to Teams channels.

Create New Workflow URLs: In Microsoft Teams, go to the channel where you want to post messages, click the ellipses next to the channel name, and select Workflows. Choose the option to Post to a channel when a webhook request is received. This will generate a new URL for the workflow.

Update the Applications: Replace the old webhook URLs in your applications with the new workflow URLs. This ensures that the messages will continue to be posted to the Teams channels without interruption.

Note: If you don't use workflow for incoming webhook, you don't need to change anything at this present.

Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!

    Thank You.

But when you say "URL", what URL's we need to migrated because we are using webhooks only to create channels and post the messages, Can you precise it regarding URL's please?
