When will Teams allow us to permanently disable the self-camera view on calls and meetings, without having to disable the view with every new call/meeting?

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to permanently disable the self-camera view in Microsoft Teams. The camera setting resets to default (on) before every call or meeting.

However, there are workarounds to avoid manually turning it off each time:

Develop a Habit: Make it a routine to turn off your camera as soon as you join a call or meeting. Over time, it will become second nature.

Join as Voice Only: When joining a meeting from the calendar invite or Teams channel, choose "Join with Voice Only" before entering. This skips the camera prompt altogether.

Hide Your Video (During Meeting): While in a meeting, you can hide your own video feed from your view. Here's how:

Locate your video tile (usually bottom of the screen). Click the three dots (...) next to your video. Select "Hide for me".

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give back to the Community. Help the next person who has this issue by indicating if this reply solved your problem. Click Yes or No below. Best Regards, Furkaan

    Hello Mike,

My name is Jackson and thank you for your question.

I sincerely apologize for the issue you experience with your Teams , I am a user myself and do not work for Microsoft so I understand how frustrating this is.

We currently do not have any options in Teams that enables users permanently disable the self-camera instead hide it, however you can suggestion or give this feedback to the Teams developer Teams with the feedback option in Teams; https://support.microsoft.com/office/c0fb6297-22af-4db5-b19b-69e0a6720927

    Warm regards,

    Jackson E.
