How do you get rid of pastel/rainbow non-video background?

Recently in Microsoft Teams, the background of meeting participants not using video has become a fading pastel rainbow; it even has a variant for dark mode. How do I get rid of the coloring and go back to the light gray?

There's a corporate meeting environment where pastel baby shower theme is appropriate?

Much like the stupid "new" tag stuck on the task bar icon, this is another completely unwanted addition to Teams.

The meeting window should be themed like the rest of Teams, not have some random and completely hideous color scheme that you can't control.

I refused to switch to "new teams" while it was voluntary (now IT forces it where I work) purely because of the "new" tag on the sys tray and maybe everybody else felt the same way because I don't see how you do months of beta and not deal with something like this. It truly begs the question, does MS use their own software? How does this happen?

Sorry for any confusion. I thought that since I selected Microsoft Teams and Teams for Business when posting my question that it would have been flagged as being for Microsoft Teams.

I have looked through the settings both in the meeting window and the main settings for Teams and haven't been able to find anything for background color. The only options I've found mentioning background are for video backgrounds.

    Hello everyone,

Is there a way to send a complaint to Microsoft, such as a customer feedback mailbox or something similar?

These new colors are really ridiculous and would be more appropriate for a game with rainbow unicorns, not for a serious business application. I would really be interested to know how the idea came about at Microsoft to implement thise "feature." It’s not like the development time couldn’t have been used for something more useful...

    Regards,

    Frank

    Hello JohnsonJ,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft community. I'd like to let you know this is a peer-to-peer support forum meaning I'm just fellow regular MS forum users like you who are trying to help other MS forum users with their issues. I'm a Non-Microsoft Staff I don't have access to your account, nor I'm authorized to do so.

Open the meeting application you are using. Go to the Settings or Preferences section. Look for the Background or Appearance settings. You should find an option to change the background. Select the default or light gray option.

If these steps don’t work, or if the application doesn’t provide an option to change the background, you might need to check for any updates to the application that could have introduced this new feature and see if there are any additional settings to adjust it.

It would be helpful to know the specific meeting application you’re using, as the steps can vary between different platforms. If you’re using a common platform like Zoom or Microsoft Teams, you can usually find the background settings in the video options.

    Regards Ruth
