Teams won't route sound to Bluetooth on Android, but it does see it, it has the permission, and Bluetooth works in any other application

I have a OnePlus 7T. Bluetooth sound works in Zoom, and Teams has been freshly reinstalled, either joining or leaving the beta programme. It has the nearby devices permission and every other. Video works, so does audio, and when I click audio I can see Bluetooth but it doesn't route audio to it when I choose it, it's still out from the phone and the headset also doesn't sound like it's on any call while using Microsoft Teams.

Any solution for this problem. Seeing the same issue with my android 14 version phone, all other apps work fine with bluetooth, except for teams.

Teams doesn't seem to be routing audio to the bluetooth speaker, same issue when i connect to my car.

    update:

Accidentally figured out a workaround for my issue, hope this works for others as well.

    1. Join teams and connect over bluetooth, sound is not routed via bluetooth of course,
    2. dial out a phone number (could be even your own number), immediately the bluetooth connection kicks in
    3. disconnect the call
    4. continue the bluetooth connection on your teams

Unbelievable that MS is still sitting on this bug for several releases now.

These is no mobile web ux for Teams, and none of these steps or even a full device replacement help. Continuous problems across multiple devices, reinstalls, etc limited to just your Android experience.

The app simply is unreliable at routing audio from Bluetooth. Tested on two Pixel 6As and a Samsung S20 FE 5G.

No such issues on Windows or iOS.

exactly Teams seems to have problem connecting to bluetooth headset every now and then. i totally cannot hear it anymore.

"Make sure that your Bluetooth device is set as the default audio output for Teams calls."

How do you do this? there is not even a setting in Teams showing the device it is sending output to. just a bluetooth symbol that does not work

Also seeing issues with Oneplus 10 Pro since upgrade to Android 14. I am no longer able to get Teams calls on my car audio via Bluetooth. When I pick bluetooth in Teams as the audio output, it seems happy, but there is no sound. I have to switch back to "Speaker".

Tested against 2 different Hyundai models.

One solution: Especially, if you have a work profile and your teams is running under work profile this may be your problem :

Open permissions settings for Teams app and give "nearby devices" permission, et voila!
