I expect in the future we can expect to see something like this (NOTE THE BELOW IS NOT A REAL MS ANNOUNCEMENT it's SATIRE).
    New Features Announced for Teams:

Microsoft has announced new and exciting features for users of Teams. Building on Team's overwhelmingly popular click to "see more" feature, they are extending this popular functionality other aspects of teams.

During Teams calls, speakers will be muted after 2 seconds of audio. Listeners will need to click to "hear more".
Speakers will also have their microphone disabled after 1 second of audio. Speakers will need to click to "speak more".
During conference calls, video will be stopped after 3 seconds of video. Participants will need to click to "view more".
All calls will be terminated after 10 seconds. Participants will need to click to "call more".
After using teams for 2 minutes, it will automatically shut down. Clients will need to click to "use more".
We have also have a new configuration option to enable multiple clicks for the above for those who wish to "click more".

We're looking forward to integrate these exciting new features into teams and also look forward to your feedback as we look for new ways to derail the usability of teams.

This collapse feature needs to be configurable. It does not benefit myself to have to do multiple clicks to see a conversation or have a bunch of orphan chats where the detail should reside with the stored documentation on SharePoint.

    +1

It was annoying before, they managed to make it worse in the newest version of teams. Clicking into it now focuses on the particular thread, blocking viewing of other threads.

At this point, to read everything, I must now click into each conversion. Upon exiting, most of the conversation will be hidden. There's no longer a way to view everything. Very unhelpful. Having a setting to disable this should would appear to be simple.

I know this is a user forum. Hopefully someone from MS reads this.

    Thanks,

    Paul

This is really a bother. The message should not be collapsing just because it is a thread that is ridiculous behavior.

This is a very inconvenient feature. Fix it Microsoft!
