Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams categories
Dear RaymondWB,
Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
Based on your description, I understand that you are looking if it's possible to keep Teams Notification Banner Up Longer.
Unfortunately, there isn't a built-in option within Teams itself to make these banners stay permanently until you manually close them. However, you can increase the duration they are displayed through your Windows operating system settings.
Here's how to increase the display time of notification banners in Windows:
For Windows 10 and Windows 11:
- Open the Settings app:
- Click on the Start Menu (Windows icon in the bottom-left corner).
- Click on the Gear icon (Settings).
- Navigate to Accessibility (or Ease of Access in older versions):
- In the Settings window, click on Accessibility.
- (In older versions of Windows 10, this might be labeled as Ease of Access*).*
- Select Visual Effects (or Display in older versions):
- In the Accessibility menu, scroll down and click on Visual effects.
- (In older versions of Windows 10, look for Display on the left-hand side).
- Adjust the "Dismiss notifications after this amount of time" setting**:**
- Under Visual effects, you'll find a dropdown menu labeled something like "Dismiss notifications after this amount of time" or "Show notifications for" or "Time to show notifications".
- Click on the dropdown menu and choose a longer duration. The options typically range from 5 seconds up to 5 minutes.
However, as mentioned earlier, Windows does not offer a built-in setting to make these banners stay indefinitely until you close them. The maximum you can typically set it to is 5 minutes. This setting will affect the display duration of all notification banners in Windows, not just those from Microsoft Teams.
While Teams doesn't control the banner display duration directly, you can manage what notifications you receive within the Teams settings. Go to your profile picture in the top right of Teams, then click Settings > Notifications. You can customize which events trigger notifications and how they are delivered (banner, email, etc.). This can help reduce the number of fleeting banners you see if certain notifications are less critical.
By adjusting the "Show notifications for" setting in your Windows accessibility options, you can significantly increase the time Teams notification banners remain visible, giving you more time to see and react to them.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Please do not hesitate to post your queries in Microsoft Community and we will always do our best to assist you!
Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!
