How to completely and truly!!! remove Teams from Mac

My MS teams openes every time and shows "We've run into an issue" with a restart button.

To fix this, I uninstalled and reinstalled - I am still logged in! and get the same problem.

So I followed this thread (twice)

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/how-to-completely-remove-teams-from-mac/2499239d-d491-43cb-a9c1-acbee7223b8d

and I'm still logged in and get the same restart screen.

First of all, I am extremely hating the fact that I'm still logged in after completely deleting the app and all components - this, for all intents and purposes, is a GDPR violation.

Secondly, I literally have no way of working with the app.

    Hello Shachar,

My name is Jackson and thank you for your question.

I sincerely apologize for the issue you experience with your Teams , I am a user myself and do not work for Microsoft so I understand how frustrating this is.

    We can try the following troubleshooting steps to fix the issue with Teams issue;

    1. Ensure you have the latest Mac OS device and Teams update installed.
    2. Quit Teams by right-clicking the Teams app in the dock, then holding down Option and clicking Force Quit. Open the Application Folder, select Microsoft Teams, and move it to the Trash. Try rebooting your device and reinstall Teams from the Microsoft website
    3. Follow the advance option in the third-party link below, this process involves clearing the Teams Identity Cache from the Keychain, which can solve problems that simply clearing the cache cannot; https://www.uvm.edu/it/kb/article/clearing-teams-cache/
    4. Try using the web version as a work around on your desktop. I will advise you try using (chrome/edge) browser and go to https://teams.microsoft.com/.
    5. Give this feedback to the Teams developer team with the feedback link https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/ or report it within Teams with the feedback option ; https://support.microsoft.com/office/c0fb6297-22af-4db5-b19b-69e0a6720927

    Warm regards,

    Jackson E.

Actually, I had the same issue, deleting the application and all entries in the Library connected to Teams. No success.

However, what worked was going directly to the Keychain, searching for "Teams" and relentlessly deleting all entries that resembled to Microsoft Teams. In my case there were like half a dozen. I didn't see the purely "cryptic" entry related to in the guide Jackson pointed to.

Once this was done, I received again the login page with Teams.

So my procedure for success (without deleting and reinstalling Teams):

    1. Quit Teams
    2. Open Keychain
    3. Search for "Teams"
    4. Delete any entry that suggests to be related to "Microsoft Teams"
    5. Start Teams and celebrate being able to chose which profile you want to use.
    6. Have a big, strong drink to wash away this so frustrating experience with Teams

Hope this can be reproduced as successful method and will help.

    Hi Jackson,

Thanks for the helpo. The advanced deletion you sent in the link indeed helped with the restart issue, but I'm still logged in which is extremely disturbing.

    I'll open tickets for them

    Hello Jackson E.

I have Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 installed on my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro computers that are both running macOS Sonoma 14.6.1. I don't want Microsoft Teams on my computers. Should I simply drag it to the Trash? Or is there more to removing it?

    Thank you,

    Stan
