How to fix the Microsoft Teams print conversion to Adobe when printing word documents within teams?

When I open teams and select a word document in the files selection of a channel, the word document comes up just fine. It use to be when I selected print, I could select the printer I wanted it to go to and print as a word document. Now, when I select print, it converts the word document to a .pdf file to print and I get a dialog box stating the .pdf file is ready to print. I have my printer set as my default, with nothing to do with Adobe. How do I turn off this function so I can go back to printing the document as a word document instead of a .pdf?

    Dear David Starr2

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description, I understand you concern with Microsoft Teams print conversion to Adobe when printing word documents within teams.

May I know whether you are printing from Word Online or the desktop application? If you are using Word Online, it might automatically convert documents to PDF for printing.

Try opening the document in the Word desktop app instead:

    • Click on the three dots (...) next to the document in Teams.
    • Select Open in Desktop App.
    • Print from the Word desktop app, which should allow you to select your printer directly without converting to PDF.

If the issue still persists, please feel free to let me know, I will continue to assist you.

Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

I am using my Microsoft teams desktop app.

I open, go to a channel and the to the files section and open a word document located there. I make some changes or I just open to print. I don’t want to go out of teams in order to print. I just want to print from there.

I use to be able to do that but now I can’t. When I select print I can no longer choose my printer. Teams automatically converts it to a .PDF file ready for print

I just want to be able to print the native word doc to my default printer.
