Emergency Caller ID Override on Direct Routing

I have been reading some Microsoft documentation regarding emergency caller ID in Teams and I found this statement: Emergency calls always send the user's telephone number (caller ID) to a public-safety answering point (PSAP). For more information on emergency calls, see Plan and manage emergency calling.I am interpreting this to mean that even with a caller ID policy in place to change the caller ID to a resource account number, when an emergency call is placed it will still send the users DID. Does that seem like an accurate statement as far as you understand? Are there any work arounds that would allow emergency caller ID to display a different number than the one that is assigned to a user?

    Dear jpips,

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community. We will be happy to help you.

Yes, your interpretation is correct. According to Microsoft documentation, emergency calls in Teams will always send the user’s direct inward dialing (DID) number to the public-safety answering point (PSAP), regardless of any caller ID policies in place. Refer to Manage caller ID for users - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn and Manage emergency calling policies in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn.

As for workarounds, there are currently no supported methods to change the caller ID for emergency calls to display a different number than the one assigned to the user. This is a safety measure to ensure that emergency services can accurately identify and locate the caller.

If you have specific needs or concerns, it might be worth reaching out to Microsoft support for any potential updates or custom solutions that could be considered in future releases.

I hope the information helps! If there is any update or I misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know. I will continue to assist you. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.
