Managing presence indicators such as Available, Busy, or Away to reflect user availability
Dear TB in DC,
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad the instructions were helpful!
How to Set Up a Sample Classroom or Team in Microsoft Teams: (Both Window and Mac)
To simulate a clean teaching environment, you can create a new team specifically for each session or course. Here’s how:
- Open Microsoft Teams
- Click on Teams in the left sidebar
- Select Join or create a team (bottom-left corner)
- Click Create team
- Choose From scratch
- Select Private (recommended for classroom use)
- Name your team (e.g., “Demo Class – June 14”)
- Add members if needed (or skip to keep it empty)
This gives you a fresh space with no prior messages, files, or channels.
Yes, your personal chats, calendar, and other teams/channels will still be visible in the Teams interface while teaching. However:
- Chats: These are private and won’t be visible to students unless you open them during screen sharing.
- Calendar: This is tied to your Microsoft 365 account and shows all your scheduled meetings.
- Other Teams/Channels: These remain listed in your sidebar, but you can hide or reorder them to reduce clutter.
If you want to avoid any distractions or accidental exposure during a demo, consider:
- Using a separate demo account with no prior activity
- Creating a new profile on your computer just for teaching
- Running Teams in a browser incognito window with a clean login
Please let me know if you need help with any of these steps. If you need further assistance don't hesitate to reach out to us. I’m here to ensure your experience with Word remains productive and under your control.
