Hi everybody,

I'm wondering about following Teams sharing option "People currently in this chat"

Image

Is there a way to enforce this as default option on a client or as default option at the tenant level?

Would be great if someone could answer.

Many thanks
Rainer

When a user uploads a file to a teams chat, it uploads it to their personal OneDrive and sets the file sharing.

This setting is actually controlled in Sharepoint admin, since OneDrive and Sharepoint are so closely related.

Because of this, you need to actually go into Sharepoint Admin > Sharing > File and folder links > 'Choose the type of link that's selected by default when users share files and folders in SharePoint and OneDrive.'

    Hope that helps.

Did you just randomly write up on some ****?

    1. Those sections doesn't even exist on the Microsoft 365 admin page
    2. You can't set "people in this chat" as default setting, it's not supported.

I don't know why you would give a incorrect and dishonest answer, but you're not doing anything other than annoying people and wasting their time.

    Get your **** togheter.

Hello Rainer S, I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum. One way to make the "People currently in this chat" sharing option the default setting in Microsoft Teams is to follow the steps below: For client-level default (individual user): 1. Open Microsoft Teams. 2. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner. 3. Select Settings. 4. Under General, find the "Default link type for sharing" option. 5. Choose "People currently in this chat". 6. Click "Apply". For tenant-level default (organization-wide): 1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center as an admin. 2. Navigate to Settings > Services & add-ins > Microsoft Teams. 3. Click on "Messaging policies". 4. Edit the desired policy (e.g., Global (Org-wide default)). 5. Under "File sharing and permissions", set "Default link type for sharing" to "People currently in this chat". 6. Save the changes. Remember to test the settings to ensure they work as expected. Let me know if you have any other questions. Kind regards, Segunfunmi.

    Hello Segunfunmi,

I was trying to find the settings to change it on the tenant-level, but wasn't able to locate it. Is it possible to provide screenshots to navigate?

    Sincerely,

    Calvin
