MS Teams does not have real chat history

MS Teams only shows chat history for the last few weeks. Sometimes I need to see something that is older than that. I understand that all the chats are stored somewhere for much longer than that. I need, as a regular user in an organization, to be able to view my entire chat history at will. What is stopping Microsoft from allowing this? I see a "recents" tab in the chat that has some chats from the last week. There needs to be an "all" tab as well.

This fixed my Teams issue with all the historical chats that disappeared. I now have all my chat history displaying again.

Add or remove Programs > under Apps & features, scroll down to Microsoft Teams > click Advanced options > click Terminate > click Reset

The problem is that somehow you can't see old messages until someone replies to this message. Right now I can't see almost 1 month of chat history. And it is not connected with the policies of the company. This is a common bug in new Teams.

I have the same problem with the NEW MS Teams. The classic application loads the full chat history no problem. Which means that this is not the organization policies.

    Hello Patrick,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

The “Recents” tab you’re seeing is likely showing your most recent conversations for quick access, but it doesn’t mean that older chats are gone. They should still be accessible by scrolling up in the chat or searching for specific terms using the search bar at the top of Teams.

If you’re unable to view older messages, it might be due to specific settings or policies set by your organization. It’s best to check with your IT department or Teams administrator if you’re having trouble accessing older chats. They may be able to provide more insight into any specific settings or restrictions in place within your organization.

“Give back to the Community. Help the next person who has this issue by indicating if this reply solved your problem. Click Yes or No below. “

Please let me know if you have any questions or concern.

    Best regards, EngineTyme.
