As an administrator within the organization, I am seeking to retrieve chat logs from a team's channel. Unfortunately, a colleague inadvertently deleted all the conversation records. I am inquiring whether it is possible to restore these chat logs and, if so, what is the precise procedure to do so? Given my elevated privileges, I am eager to explore any available options to salvage the chat history. The lost data and corresponding customer interactions are of critical importance.

    Dear b64350

Good day! Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community. We'll be happy to help!

First of all, we apologize for the inconvenience caused to your work. Based on your description, I have a general understanding of your question, Office 365 global admin can try to use the Office 365 Content Search to get the details about the Chat history in Teams and then export the search results to check them.  If you are the gloal admin, you can go to Office 365 Security& Compliance Admin Center > Search > Content Search > Guided Search, after that apply more sepcific conditions to query search results. The chat results would show Type: IM, and call would be show as Tyoe:call.  For more details, please kindly refer to: Get started with Content search | Microsoft Learn

In addition, the other option is to use the **OneDrive** feature in Teams, which stores a copy of your chat files. To do this, please kindly follow these steps:

    • Navigate to the **Files** tab in Teams, select **OneDrive**, and click **Open in OneDrive**.
    • In **My files**, open the folder **Microsoft Teams Chat Files**.
    • Navigate to **Recycle bin**, select the files to be restored, and click **Restore**.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. Your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. I hope for all the best!

    Sincerely
