Hi guys

My hotmail.com account has just been switched to an outlook.com account. If I go to hotmail.com or outlook.com and try to log in I get the following message:

Sorry, something went wrong Please try again. If you keep seeing this message, go toService status to check whether there's a problem with Hotmail or to report the issue.

This started today. I had logged into outlook.com for the first time, then tried to create a new @outlook.com address. I did not complete this as all the variations I tried had been taken. I went back to check my email and started to get the above error. I have logged out and back in again, tried logging in with Firefox, Chrome and IE, cleared cache and used multiple PCs. But I still get this error

I also have my hotmail account linked to my android phone. I tried to manually sync emails to see if there was still a connection between my phone and hotmail and I get an error saying "Could not open connection to server"

This has been the case since Aug 1st. I urgently need to access my emails

Any ideas?? Help is much appreciated!

Paul

    Hi PaulWilkins

We truly apologize for the delay in responding. I would like to ask if you are still encountering the error message "**Sorry, something went wrong Please try again."**as of this moment. If so, please provide us the affected email account via the private message that I have created, so we can diagnose as to what has happened to your account.

    @everyone,

If you are unable to sign in, then perhaps you have accidentally renamed your account to a different name or domain. Please be reminded that once an account is renamed, the original Microsoft account becomes an Alias. You now have to log in using the new renamed account.

You can find the Alias on the link below and you may choose to delete it to rename the account back:

    Manage Associate IDs

After deleting the Alias, you can rename back to the original Microsoft account.

To change your e-mail address, please refer to the steps provided below:

    1. Sign in to this link.
    2. On the Account Summary page, click Update email address under your Microsoft account.
    3. Enter your password.
    4. Select Create a new email address.
    5. Click Save.

    Thanks!

Exactly the same thing happened here!! E-mail ******@hotmail.com (not sure how that e-mail is removed, as I see in other posts, but also not sure how else to let Microsoft know its me!!

"...I had logged into outlook.com for the first time, then tried to create a new @outlook.com address. I did not complete this as all the variations I tried had been taken. What Paul did/tried was the same sequence of events for me as well. I have been seeing in quite a few other posts as well.

Please please please help. I would appreciate any moderators to assist - further pleases and thank-yous.

They won't help us and it's likely this issue will never be resolved.  I switched my hotmail address (that I've had for many years) over to an outlook address and now I cant access my account. It's been two days now and I can't get in. There's no technical support and if they do contact you - it'll be through your hotmail and/or outlook address and of course ..... you can't check it because you can't access the account.
