Changing email on LinkedIn...

I have set up 2 outlook.com email addresses, one for personal use; one for professional/job hunting purposes.  I am trying to change the email address on LinkedIn to the outlook.com; however, it keeps changing it to my personal account (the main email) not the professional.  Since they are both under the same password, how can I make 2 separate emails so that one is strictly for professional purposes? LinkedIn sends an email to confirm the new address but it goes straight to the personal one.  I don't want that one on my resumes.

Thank you.

    Hi,

We will be waiting for the result of your 'next try'. This will surely clarify alias issue.

    Thanks!

This doesn't work for what I want. Again, LinkedIn asks for confirmation of my alias address.  When I send them the alias address they respond acknowledging the primary address & that this is the one that will go into the LinkedIn resume, which I do not want. I want the alias to go on my reume.

When I tried your setup instructions, it tells me the box where I wanted the emails to go is already being used. What the heck does this mean? Plus I don't care anyway where the emails go. I can move them myself.  I think I will just set up 2 separate accounts.  That way I can also have 2 separate names & signatures.  This is more difficult than it should be.  I had verizon previously & this was not an issue at all.

    Hi,

We received your private message. It appears that you have set up an email address as an alias to your account. Please note that the function of an alias is for sending and receiving messages only in your Microsoft account but it doesn't mean you can't use it signing up in other websites. You will receive the email notification from LinkedIn into you primary account if you have not set up a rule in your Microsoft account to move the emails to another folder. Though the message was received in your primary account it does not mean that the changes were not recognized. You don't need to separate the alias into your primary account. You just need to create a folder for the professional account and a rule that applies to it. Please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your Microsoft account’s Inbox page.
    2. If you’re using the old user interface of Microsoft Hotmail, click on Options (located on the upper right corner of your screen, next to a question mark icon) then More Options. If you are using Outlook.com, click on the gear icon before your name in the upper right corner of the page. Please click on Options then More mail settings.
    3. From the Hotmail Options screen under the category Customizing Hotmailor Customizing Outlook, click Rules for sorting new messages.
    4. Click New. On Step 1, select To of Cc line, contains word on the dropdown menu for the first and 2nd box respectively. On the third box, type the alias (email address).  On Step 2, please tick on the first option and select Inbox from the dropdown option or select the second option move it to a specific folder (Inbox).
    5. Click Save.

    Thanks.
