    Hi nbs88,

We apologize for the delayed response as we are currently having high volume of support requests. Let me also assist you with your inquiry on how to block emails using keywords. In addition to t-4-2's post, you may also create a rule that is specific to the things that you have provided above. Please follow the steps below on how to do this.

Blocking emails using keywords that might appear in the sender's name:

    1. Open your inbox.
    2. At the upper right part of the page, click on the gear icon beside your Profile name then choose More mail settings.
    3. Under Customizing Outlook, click on Rules for sorting new messages.
    4. Click New.
    5. Under Step 1; on the first box, choose Sender's name; on the second box, choose contains; then on the third box, type in the keyword that you want to block.
    6. Under Step 2, choose the radio button Delete these messages—don't even put them in my Deleted folder.
    7. Click Save.

Blocking emails using keywords that might appear in the subject:

    1. Open your inbox.
    2. At the upper right part of the page, click on the gear icon beside your Profile name then choose More mail settings.
    3. Under Customizing Outlook, click on Rules for sorting new messages.
    4. Click New.
    5. Under Step 1; on the first box, choose Subject; on the second box, choose contains; then on the third box, type in the keyword that you want to block.
    6. Under Step 2, choose the radio button Delete these messages—don't even put them in my Deleted folder.
    7. Click Save.

Currently, there is no option or rule to delete emails using keywords that might appear in the content, only if the message has attachments. If you want to create a rule specific to emails that has attachments, then you may just follow the steps I've provided above, just change Step 5, choose Message has attachments on the first box.

Hope I've addressed your concern. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to post back.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

The More mail settings button is no longer listed among the options for Outlook. However, you can setup certain rules to block email messages with certain keywords. Just follow the steps provided on the link below to see the steps on how to do so:

Manage email messages by using rules.

    Regards.

OK I was a bit too hasty.  After entering about 50 filters, I realized it only filters the inbox, not junk box.  Help!

    THANK YOU Glenda_A!!!!

The past three days I have received over 40 junk emails every morning with inappropriate content.  I was also wondering how to remove them. Thanks so much!

Outlook.com has a Blocked Senders feature. It uses the sender's address for blocking.

Open outlook.com> to right, next to your name, click the Gear icon> click More mail settings > right side, under Preventing junk email, click Safe and Blocked senders > click Blocked senders > left side, enter the address > middle, click Add to list > the contact is now in blocked senders list.
