Its ten days ago but I was on the MS website and called a number and was told to call another number for the windows live team - i.e. help as I was having trouble resyncing hotmail to my ip5 after changing my password etc on main Outlook site. 0808 169 6538. I trusted them because I thought it was an MS number.
The other number he gave me at the end to callback on was 888 688 5640 and he confirmed when asked he was calling from India.
I've followed advice and done a scan and clean up and hope I've sorted any nasties as I found a download named letmein.rescue the guy got me to run and deleted that. I hope they were just trying to scare me saying that I had a host of illegal users on my network; so I'd pay for the technical specialist to remove them. He also showed me USA Today article and said problem was widespread. Nearly convincing, but I became suspicious when they said the problem got in whilst I changed my Outlook password as I'd not done that on home network; they also couldnt spell "specialist". Thanks for reply. Hope this is helpful to others. It seems to have been an attempted Scam.
