How to set Outlook Mail App as default mail-app on iOS?

Dear all,

I've ditched the default mail app on iOS, and now using the Outlook Mail App in stead. It's light years ahead of apples own build in mail app!

A problem occurs when I'm using another app to mail files, for example forwarding a pdf from my Dropbox via the Dropbox App on iOS.

The problem is that the Dropbox is using the built in mail app to send the mail, and not the Outlook mail app.

This took me a while to figure out, so I found out that I had like 5 un-send mails in the apple mail app, because they will not be send until I open the app and 'update' it.

Is there any way to change this? Would prefer to have Outlook Mail app taking care of all out-going e-mails.

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Office Community.

As per your query, I understand that you want o setup as Outlook mail app as default in iPhone. However, this option is not available as of now in Apple IOS.

Hope this information helps. Please post to us if you need any further assistance with Office.

Thank you.

Ok but umm your Microsoft you need to fix this!  Apple and Google have no problem modifying your OS to suit their needs.  Ask yourself what would Bill Gates do when he had testosterone? K?  Fix this we need a default Outlook app for iPad so you can be #1 in the email business.

I thought I would reply to this with an update as of July 2017. iOS now allows you to select the Outlook Mail App as an option when you share a file.

If you don't see the Outlook Mail App as an option (and you have the app installed on the device), then select the "More" icon (the one in the top row in the image above) and turn on the switch next to the Outlook icon as shown in the image below.

Microsoft cannot fix this because the operating system handles what app responds to clicking a link or opening a file. Apple has to fix this by allowing you to select a default application. The same situation is true for maps, music and any other app that can replace one of Apples default apps.

Microsoft has NO control of Apple's iOS. There are just things that you can't do, like set Waze as the default MAPS app on the iPhone. I suggest you write to Apple and tell them you demand they build in a feature that will allow users to "change the default app"

I too would love to be able to set my default apps, not just for mail but for other things as well. Apple does this deliberately, so it's them you should complain to, not Microsoft.
