My Hotmail account takes a very long time to open on my laptop and unable to change any settings.

Hello,

any ideas why my windows live hotmail takes so long to load?

Once it has opened I can send/receive emails ok but, trying to move to, say, "settings", takes a very long time.

I tried to reset my password today as getting suspicious; it took forever for the reset screen to load, then, when I asked for a code to go to my mobile, I got a message to say it didn't recognise my contact info, so was unable to reset. Am rather worried now.

Any help gratefully accepted.

I'm not sure of all the jargon, so be gentle with me!

Same here.  Every time I access my Outlook.com, it takes about 30 seconds for the first email to show on screen.  And we all know, 30 seconds computer time might as well be an hour our time.  What looks like is happening, is Microsoft decided to load up our Outlook.com page with a bunch of ads.  Which is what is taking priority on load time.  All the ads load first before my email does.  Pretty stupid, and extremely annoying.  Not to mention, it's almost impossible to try and get an answer or leave a feedback from Outlook.com page.  Their links lead to nowhere.  All it says is that it uses some third party survey thing.  But nothing else.  No other links to this third party site.  I had to Google it to find a link.  For a bunch tech geeks, whomever designed Outlook.com, and the people who approved must have been smoking some crazy stuff.  Cuz it's a piece of **** now.  Old Hotmail was 10x better.  Or should I say, 10x more reliable.  I don't care for bells and whistles.  I just want to access my email, and send email.  This shouldn't require me to sit waiting so long just to see the first email pop up.  ****, the Outlook mobile app is even better than the browser version.  New emails come up pretty instantaneous.  But if I'm in front of my computer, I shouldn't have to rely on my mobile.  And no, not my computer, this happens on ANY computer I hop on to access my Outlook.com account.

I'm having the same problem. In the last month or so, outlook is taking ages to open, or doesn't at all. It is on my PC, Mac , iPad. It's ridiculous. My gmail accounts load immediately . The outlook loading bar goes blue all the way to the last few mm..then just stops. I thought it was a safari issue, so tried Mozilla on my sons PC..the same.

going to dump the account if it continues .

I have the same problem ever since Microsoft forced me to open my Hotmail account in Outlook as it was agonizingly slow particularly opening attachment. I thought it might be because my Lap top was old but I now have a new HP laptop with quad core processor but it is still really slow. Is there any way of accessing my hotmail account without using Outlook, why ever the nerds at Microsoft made us change to Outlook they must be brain dead.

I've always believed it was because of the ads that Microsoft makes top priority to load first.  So I tested something out.  I installed an ad blocker on my computer and the computer at work.  Bam!  Well, not exactly bam, but it will have to do.  First email still takes a bit of time to load, but it does load faster with ad blocker on.  Signed out of Outlook, turned off ad blocker, signed back into Outlook, and back to taking forever.  Went back to having ad blocker on, and email loads faster.  On ALL computers I've tried.  Guess this proves my point.  lol  Not sure if it will fix your "not loading at all".  But it will most likely allow your emails/page to load faster.  Doesn't hurt to try.  Let us know what happens.

    Good luck.

In order to help you effectively we need to know exactly what email system you are using.  You can see the differences here

In order to find which version of the email system you are using When you log into the account using a web browser does it say outlook.com, outlook "preview" or Outlook Mail across the top?
