Unable to login to Hotmail.co.uk email account! Please help!!

Hi there,

I have had a hotmail.account for quite some time but not used it for a few years, I now need to access it for an important email and I reset my password to do so but now I cannot sign in as it tells me I have to have an outlook.com email address? I have tried on windows 10 and on my android device too. please help!

    If you haven't logged in for a year or longer, the contents of the mailbox has been permanently deleted.
