No Ruler or Pilcrow in Outlook, Office 365 for Mac?

Can't find how to display the ruler in Outlook for Mac.  I would also like to display the formatting symbols in the body of my email.  That used to be a simple toggle of the pilcrow (¶) symbol.  Can't find either of those in Outlook, Office 365 for Mac.  Help? Thanks!

Thank you Jim - this is helpful information.

But I still do not understand why they did not add this very helpful tool to outlook 2016 MAC -> In my opinion, outlook 2016 without those tools was downgraded to Mac's email application.

The default editor for messages in Outlook for Windows is Microsoft Word. In Outlook for Mac Microsoft chose to use a light-duty editor instead of Microsoft Word.

You can use Microsoft Word as the editor for email in Office for Mac by getting into the habit of clicking on the Microsoft Word icon to build your message. In Word, change to Web Layout view. When ready to send your message use File > Share > Send as HTML.

Microsoft has said they will not use Word as the default editor for Outlook for Mac, so this is the best work-around I can suggest.

If this is a feature you’d like to see in Outlook 2016 for Mac, visit:

    http://outlook.uservoice.com/forums/293343-outlook-for-mac

and search for a similar feature and vote it up or create a new feature request and encourage others to vote it up.

    Hope this helps!
