Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
Setting the time on my PC correctly fixed this for me.

I have a PC and a laptop, I can access my email on the lap top but when using the PC It will not sign in and sends the message sec_error_ocsp_old_response. I can't find any any reference to this through forums. Can anyone explain please and tell me how to rectify the problem in simple one syllable terms as I am a silver surfer.

I've seen references to this as a bug in some versions of Firefox (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/OCSP_error_when_accessing_secure_sites), but is more often means there's a caching issue. Completely clear your browser's settings, cookies, and cache and try again. Are you checking for certificate revocation in the browser?
I am using what I always use IE and Firefox outlook .com all this is fine with windows 7 on laptop but not on windows xp on PC This problem has only occurred in the past few weeks. Thanks for trying.
How are you trying to access your mailbox? Are you using a web browser like IE, or a mail client like Windows Live Mail? What version of Windows?
