How to ARCHIVE calendar items

I use Outlook for Mac 2016 on a corporate Exchange server. Can anyone please tell me how to archive/move/copy old calendar entries to an offline folder in Outlook. I NEED them to be searchable and can't just delete them, however, my calendar is getting quite large.

I do export everything for backup purposes, however, I just need to simply archive so it's searchable.

Any ideas?

THANKS

Solved! Thanks to all for your help.

I followed JohnWangs suggestion (above) and exported my Calendar (only) into a OLM file. I then imported that calendar only OLM file, which placed my calendar in an off-line, searchable (via spotlight) format. The Calendar was imported to the 'On My Computer' folders.

Next was the cleanup/delete process from my on-line calendars.

Using VMFusion, I installed a Windows VM on my Mac (VMFusion). I installed outlook into that VM and was able to delete all the entries in my calendar, without sending cancellations to everyone. That worked perfectly. After letting the Windows Outlook (2011) sync with Exchange, everything I deleted was removed from the Exchange server, without sending cancellations to everyone on every calendar entry.

I thin shutdown the Windows VM, loaded Outlook (15.27) on my Mac and let it sync with the Exchange Server.

Again, Windows to the rescue (sadly for Mac users).

The Mac team has historically never had the same level of resourcing as the Windows Outlook client, so 100% feature equivalency is not a realistic goal.  That being said, the Outlook for Mac team is using the following site to collect and prioritize requests from customers. I think I understand what you want to do, but I'm not sure we have a good solution In Mac Outlook. There is no concept of a "live" local searchable archive folder like in Windows Outlook.  There is an "On My Computer" folder where you can create a calendar, but there is no way to copy events from your online calendar to that folder.  Have you verified that your calendar size is really a problem?  Right click on your calendar in the left pane of the calendar view -> Properties -> Storage.  How big is your calendar?

    Hi Barbara,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I need a way to archive my CALENDAR data locally, not on a remote server or online service. It needs to me local to my machine so I can reference / search without the need tone online/connected.

How can it be that there is NOT a way to archive to my local machine without involving IT department.

Why wouldn't Microsoft create that ability for their loyal MAC users, not just for the Windows folks?

    Hello,

Outlook 2016 for Mac is continually evolving to include new features and other improvements that help you get things done more efficiently. It is also integrated with a variety of different email clients, including Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com, Hotmail, iCloud, Google, and Yahoo.

An online archive, also called an archive mailbox is a place where you can store old email messages so they don’t take up space in your primary mailbox. Your IT or Office 365 admin creates the archive mailbox for you.

Take note that in order for your archive mailbox to work with Outlook 2016 for Mac, both your archive and primary mailboxes must be either on an Exchange Server (on-premises) or on Exchange Online in Office 365 (Cloud). If in any case that your primary mailbox is set to Exchange Server, for example, and your archive account in in Exchange Online in Office 365, you won’t be able to use your online archive. You need to communicate with your IT or Office 365 Admin about co-locating them.
