I had this exact problem with the Outlook app opening attachments on an iPad. I contacted Microsoft support and the solution (for me) was to "reset" the account. Specifically, within the Outlook app, choose Settings the bottom, pick the account for which you're having issues, and hit "Reset Account" (just above the Delete Account link so make sure you're careful). This immediately solved the problem. Hope it works for you.
Cannot open email attachments in Outlook 365 on iPhone
I am unable to open any attachments in Outlook Office 365 for Mac on my iPhone. It does not matter whether or not the attachment is an Office type or anything other (pdf for example) for that matter. response is "Error" "Retry" and Retry does not succeed. I have tested opening exactly the same attachment from exactly the same mail on both Outlook web and Outlook for Mac on my iPad - both times with success. It would seem that the problem exists only on my iPhone office 365 for Mac. Please will you help. Thank you. Lloyd Farmer
