Dear all,

I subscribed with Exchange Online Kiosk, below is the comparison

https://products.office.com/en-us/business/compare-office-365-kiosk-plans

It mentions it support Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) support for smartphones, but it also only able to connect with POP.

How does this Exchange ActiveSync, and I tested in my iPhone it actually does NOT PUSH notification when email come in.

Totally no idea how does this Exchange ActiveSync work, anyone can explain?

Hi ShiroAmada,

As you can see in the article you provided, Exchange Online Kiosk only supports Exchange ActiveSync for smartphones. It means if you want to configure your account onto Outlook 2016 for Windows, you can only choose POP protocol.

However, based on my test, we can use Exchange ActiveSync to configure an Exchange Online Kiosk account onto iPhone. And yes, per your screenshot, you need to choose Exchange and it actually means Exchange ActiveSync for smartphones. Since you said you it didn’t work choosing Exchange, I need to collect some information for investigation:

  1. Are you an Office 365 administrator? If yes, please refer to this article to make sure Exchange ActiveSync is enabled for your mailbox.
  2. Can you use the same email address and password to log into OWA(Outlook Web App) properly?
  3. The screenshots of how you configured the account onto your iPhone and the error message you received.

Looking forward to your updates.

Best Regards,

Aaron

    Hi,

I know why I can't create in Exchange at that time, I did know need to wait after create an user, it take about 5 minutes for the user created. I immediately add the user after I created in Admin panel.

Microsoft should add more clear indication the mailbox is creating...

    Thanks!

    Hi ShiroAmada,

Yes, Exchange Online Kiosk supports POP for Windows/Mac desktop email clients and Exchange ActiveSync for smartphones. It means if you want to configure your accounts onto Windows/Mac desktop email clients, you can only choose POP protocol. However, when you configure your accounts onto smartphones, you can also choose Exchange ActiveSync. Here are two articles regarding Exchange ActiveSync and POP for your reference:

    Exchange ActiveSync.

    Post Office Protocol.

Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the download you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to the download or the downloaded technology. If you need support relating to the third party technology, please contact the manufacturer directly.

So if you configure your accounts onto iPhone via Exchange ActiveSync, emails, calendars and contacts will be synced to your iPhone and the change you make will also be synced to the server side.

Regarding the notification, it’s not related to Exchange ActiveSync or POP from my knowledge. You need to make sure you’ve turned on notifications in both your phone settings and mail app settings.

    Thanks,

    Aaron
