I access Outlook.com on my PC, Iphone and Ipad. I cannot see any means of adding a contact or editing existing contacts on my handhelds? Can it be done?

The reply you are looking for is that it can not be done.
Why these morons send you off to read an entire article to answer a simple question is beyond me. Until more features are added to outlook for iOS you have to go to your office account on-line (ie, visit the website) and edit your contacts with a web browser.
The easier method is to add your microsoft account to the built in contacts app, then edit it from there.
It's a pretty half baked system for sure....
I have the the Outlook mobile application on my iPhone and cannot edit, add or delete contacts. When I go to the url you mention above (https://people.live.com) it converts it to the Outlook mobile app address and only gives me the option to open the app.
PLEASE advise how to edit Outlook contacts on an iPhone - preferably through the Outlook mobile app. Thank you.

How exactly are you trying to access Outlook.com on yourcomputer? Is it through mail app, email client or web browser?
How exactly are you trying to access your Outlook.com on your iPhone and iPad? Is it through default mail app, browser or Outlook.com app?
Please be informed that you can edit the existing contacts on your Outlook.com account and once you edit it through the web based interface, changes will be reflected across all the devices with the same account.
