Poor experience with Settings Catalog

I was about to transfer all my settings from Administrative Templates and Device Restrictions to Settings Catalog, but I came across some downsides. I wish Microsoft reads this and comments or takes as a feedback.

  1. Not all settings from Device Restrictions are available in Settings Catalog. As an example, try "Automatic language detection : block".
  2. Some settings name are changed, so names taken from Device Restrictions are not exactly there as-is, but if you invent a new name, you might find it in Settings Catalog.
  3. After picking up 5 different settings, the GUI stuck somehow by not catable of find anything anymore. I typed simple words, and result was empty as they would not find it anymore. I used simple words like "allow" or "disable". 0 results after working a while with the same setting catalog object.

I have a similar experience with the settings catalog.

Some categories do not show any settings unless I'm explicitly searching for them. If I just choose the category, it will just tell me "Select a category to show settings".

This is the case with Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer for example.

I can "Select all these settings", but then I would have to remove again everything I don't need from my Configuration Profile.

When I already know what setting I am going to add, I can search for the setting name (for example "Standalone") and it will be shown within the "Internet Explorer" category.

But as far as I know, there is no way to go through all of the settings and simply pick the settings I want from that category.

    EDIT:
I just noticed that the behavior is not consistent. It is showing for a colleague, but not for me. I can see the settings in the subcategories though.
Also my colleague is seeing a different number of available settings - 65 settings in "Internet Explorer" subcategory vs. 51 settings in "Internet Explorer" subcategory.

@Pavel yannara Mirochnitchenko , Thanks for the feedback.

For the settings, they are generated directly from Windows Configuration Service Providers (CSP), and the settings experience in the catalog is dynamically generated based on the type of setting and its metadata. We will be adding more settings as the public preview continues. For the setting you want, you can feedback to Intune uservocie to add this setting.

For the search stuck issue, I also test in my lab environment. I find when I pick up 5 settings and search allow, it ask me to select a category to show settings.

For this issue, please do the following tests to clarify:

    1. Change another browser to see if the issue exists.
    2. Change another computer to test to see if the same issue persists.
    3. If try to test on other network, will the issue persists?

If there's any update, feel free to let us know.

    As a good example, same setting has very different naming in Settings Catalog which makes the transformation phase difficult;

@Crystal-MSFT thanks for your input. The whole "project" started for me after seeing MS staff Per Larsen talking about Intune configuration at Endpoint summit 2022 by saying, that prio 1 are security baselines, prio 2 are Settings Catalog and prio 3 are the rest templates, as configuration mechanizm recommended priorization. I then decided to totally transform my lab based on this recommendation, and see if we can recommend this approach to our customers.

I understand now, that Settings Catalog is not ready for production. We need all the Intune config capability to be under Settings Catalog. Do you have any timeframe, when you try to accomplish that Settings Catalog would be production ready?

Just a side task regarding this (because I am transfering my entire lab to Settings Catalog). I can't enforce Windows Hello for Business to all computers after Autopilot. Or I don't find the right setting. Fyi @Crystal-MSFT :)
