Dell gave up and said to contact Office 365. Office 365 blamed my email host. My email host blamed Office 365.
security certificate cannot be verified
I just "upgraded" from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 365. Every time I launch the program, I get an error message that "security certificate cannot be verified." I must click Yes for Outlook to download emails. Outlook 2013 began receiving emails without this time-wasting error message. In 365, even if I click View Certificate and Install Certificate, I still get the error message. Office 365 Tech Support said it had nothing to do with Outlook and I should call my email host, Hostgator. Hostgator turned around and blamed Microsoft, and said Outlook 365 requires me to buy a security certificate.
Should I give up on Outlook 365, and revert to 2013?

2017-11-25T11:11:35+00:00 Hello Mike,
May I know which Office 365 subscriptions are you using, Office 365 Business Premium, or others? Please go to the Outlook Web App (OWA) > My accounts > Subscriptions to check it. And, you can contact with your admin for further assistance if you are using an Office 365 account.
If not, about the "Hostgator", is it your mail service provider? Please kindly clarify it. And, how do you configure your mail account in Outlook client, POP or IMAP? Please verify if the account settings are correct in Outlook. Also, open Internet Explore >Tools > Internet options > Content tab > Click Clear SSL State > Then click on OK on the window that pops up to check if this helps.
Looking forward to your update.
Regards,
Rudy

2017-11-25T12:17:25+00:00 Hello Mike,
Thanks for your reply.
From the error message, we know you don't have an Office 365 account. How do you upgraded from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 365? Whether the Outlook 365 means an Outlook client download from the office portal with an Office 365 account? Can you provide us the detailed information about the upgrade to Office 365?
Meanwhile, for your IMAP mail account, Please click on file > Account settings > Select the account > Change > More settings > Advanced to verify what are the port numbers and if SSL is checked. Which may be the cause, since the SSL certificate is needed for Office 365.
Your time is appreciated.
Regards,
Rudy
