My outlook (office 365) sometimes generate a .wmz attachment when sending out emails. The file name of the attachment is normally image001.wmz or image003.wmz. It is about 8kb size each. My Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 did not detect any trojan/virus or malware. How do i resolve this .wmz issue?

    Hi Yang,

    I open up a ticket with support. Below is the advice they give. At least i know it's not virus or malware

    Issue Description:

    ================

    Outgoing email automatically attached an .wmz file

    Assessment:

    ================

    This .wmz file added simply means that you (or the sender) is using Word as the editor and have it configured to add a header, footer or otherwise customized the template. It can also mean you are using a stationery with a white or clear image.

    Hi All,

    According to your screenshot, I found that the wmz file attachment appeared in OWA (Outlook Web App). Please firstly check whether your email format is HTML or plain text.

    Then also check if you have set up html signature for your emails sent out.

    Meanwhile, to verify whether it is related to some add-ins or cache data of the web browser, I suggest you try in private mode and also in other web browsers to see if you can reproduce this issue.

    Regards,

    Yang
