Outlook 2016 can't open Signatures or Stationery and Fonts in File, Options, Mail on Windows 10

Hi All,

I know you have seen this problem before but I am not having any luck with the solutions. I can open Outlook but cannot create new signatures as the button does nothing other than lock Outlook for a minute or so, the same problem with the Stationery and Fonts button.  I can copy a signature to the sigs folder and select it from the drop down in the new email.  I also cannot get to signatures from that button as well.

I have tried the registry fix here: https://www.slipstick.com/problems/the-stationery-and-font-button-doesnt-work/ obviously changing the paths for Office16 without luck, also the LocalServer32 value doesn't exist and creating it doesn't help either, yes I rebooted between.

I have also uninstalled and re-installed office and repaired it as well with not success.

I have multiple machines with the same issue, all from the same supplier as well and don't really want to reload if that's possible.

    Hi All,

As far as I know, there’s a similar Outlook known issue in the Feb 2018 updates, the symptom is Outlook hangs or freezes when clicking Signature button. For more details about this issue, please check: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/fixes-or-workarounds-for-recent-issues-in-outlook-for-windows-ecf61305-f84f-4e13-bb73-95a214ac1230. Please check whether you have any pre-installed Microsoft Office Desktop apps and remove them. Here’s the work around of this issue: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/outlook-freezes-clicking-the-signature-button-c70b36c2-66ca-401c-ab45-f29a46495d02.

Meanwhile, please check the client updates, it is suggested to always keeping the latest Outlook client.

@Tony Argn, thanks for your sharing.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi

I have the same problem with you. I find out this because we have two outlook. Outlook app and Outlook 2016. I just uninstall Outlook app (which is installed by default) in window 10 OEM.

This site's fix seemed to be the real fix.  There appears to be a conflict between an "app" and the standard office installation.

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/outlook-freezes-clicking-the-signature-button-c70b36c2-66ca-401c-ab45-f29a46495d02

Specifically goto "Apps & Features" this is different list than the normal appwiz.cpl , uninstall Microsoft Office Apps Desktop install. Generally this is due to garbage from vendor builds of Windows with Office pre-installed in some manner.  If you format and reinstalled from source you would also fix this .

    Hi Anna,

I managed to get this working, the users on these PC's are not administrative users for security reasons but if I created the local Windows profile while they were a local administrator then setup Outlook first, then removed their local administrative privileges I am able to access the signatures area.

This seems to be the only fix I can find at the moment and requires that I delete the local profile prior to making them a local administrator.

?Seems that either the Windows profiles or Outlook default folders are being created with incorrect permissions when the user is not a local administrator to the machine.
