Outlook search properties does not work due to language problem

Hi,

I write this question due to I have a problem with Outlook search properties.

My machine has installed Windows 7 Enterprise with Service pack 1. The office version is Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus version 1711 (Build 8730.2175 Click-to-Run)

My machine has configured Spanish as operating system language. Then I've configured English in Office as Editing Language, Display Language and Help language.

The problem is when I try to search something and I click on the "From" button in the search tab, then Outlook fills automatically the search bar with the Spanish version of the from command i.e. "De:" instead of "From:". Then if I fill any name in the search bar, outlook is not able to interpret this and no filter is performed. This wrong translation is done with all the search properties: From, To, Subject, Attachment ...

Thanks

Hector

    Hi Hector,

Please update the latest Version 1803 (Build 9126.2116) of Outlook client. See Version and build numbers of update channel releases

May I know whether you have tried to check this issue via using Advanced Find? If not, please refer to the steps below to see whether the search properties works properly.

    • Click in the search box.

    • On the Searchtab, click Search Tools > Advanced Find.

    • Advanced Find under Search Tools

    • Click the Advanced tab.

    • Under Define more criteria, click the Field button and then click All Mail Fields. You'll see a menu of fields you can search on, such as From, To, Received, Subject etc.

For detailed information, please refer to the article under Use Advanced Find

If you still having problem then, please provide us with a screenshot for further analysis.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

    Hello Hector,

It expected if you have configured Spanish as operating system language. You can click the "+More" button and then you can select From, To, Subject, Attachment in that menu. It will not convert  "De:" instead of "From:"

    Hope it will help you.

    Hi again,

I'm not sure what you mean by *It will not convert  "De:" instead of "From:".*The current behaviour of Outlook is putting "De:" even if Outlook is in English. And that is the problem, because the Search engine does not recognize "De:" as a key word.

Do you mean that in case I have the operating system configured in one language and the Office in another language it is expected that some features will not work? This has no sense.

So, all the Search features of Outlook don't work because the languages are different between operating system and the application. are there other features with this limitation?

    regards

    Hector

    Hi,

    thanks about your quick response.

I think it was not very clear what I was trying to explain. I attach a capture of the problem. In the image you can see that I'm clicking on the "From" button, also you can see in the search bar that the text -de:"Sender Name"- has been filled automatically by Outlook. Also you can see that the language bar has selected "EN" as language.

so, the problem is that in case I replace "Sender Name" by a real sender name, the search engine is not going to find anything, which is not the behavior expected for the "From" button.

If you need further information let me know.

    Best Regards

    Hector

    Hello Hector,

This is not the problem, it is expected behavior if your OS and Office 365 ProPlus is Spanish language. You can enable the keyboard layout for two or more languages in the Windows operating system, you can use the Language bar to switch between languages that use different keyboard layouts.

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/switch-between-languages-using-the-language-bar-1c2242c0-fe15-4bc3-99bc-535de6f4f258?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

    Thanks,
