Change IMAP settings

I can’t see my sent mails in the sent folder of my imap mail account. Sent mails are saved on another local folder on Outlook. After, searching to find out what is the problem, I found that the imap incoming and outgoing server settings are wrong. I tried to change them but nothing. The settings turn automatically to the wrong settings.

My imap server takes STARTTLS and port: 143 for the incoming server and STARTTLS with port 587 for the outgoing server.

I am using Outlook 365 and the settings that don’t want to change are for incoming server SSL/TLS port: 993 and for outgoing SSL/TLS and port: 465.

My question is how I change these settings? And why Outlook cant take the new ones?

Notice that I tried to change them following your instructions as followed, although the guides and screenshots you are giving are not corresponding to Outlook 365 setting windows: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/change-or-update-your-email-password-58b62e89-6a9b-467b-8865-d5633fcacc3f

    What you're encountering is the new "simplified" account settings UI. There are several ways to go about changing email account settings - three of which are

    Option #1

    From within Outlook

    • Press CTRL+ALT+S (this brings up the Send/Receive Settings window)
    • Select the group you want to edit and click on the <Edit> button
    • Select the email account you want to modify --> click on <Account Properties>

    Option #2

    From within Outlook

    • go to File --> Options --> Advanced --> click on the Send/Receive button
    • click on the applicable <Account Group> (most people will only have one)
    • click <Edit>
    • select the <Email Account> --> click on <Account Properties

    Option #3

    With Outlook closed

    • open the Control Panel <Mail> app
    • select <Email Accounts>
    • select the desired <email account> --> select <Change>

    No, there is no reason! Just for checking I do it!

    So does the issue still occur if you <don't> do the repair and just perform the manual changes?

    By "business account" - are you referring to a Microsoft hosted Exchange account?

    No, there is no reason! Just for checking I do it!

    I have a business account! (not gmail, yahoo, hotmail or other)

    (I have changed the settings following the options you have mentioned above but when I do file>account settings>repair>

    If the settings were changed using any of the options in my initial response - is there are a reason that you're still performing file --> Account Settings --> Repair (which would over-ride the manual settings)?

    Who is your email service provider for this account?

    Thank you for your answer but still not working!

    (I have changed the settings following the options you have mentioned above but when I do file>account settings>repair>..., I still get SSL/TLS and ports 993 and 465, even though I've changed it using option 1).

    Folder sent from imap account still not syncing in Outlook 365!

    I can't see previously sent mails on Outlook (mails sent before using Outlook) and I can't see mail sent from Outlook to imap sent folder.

    Any other suggestions?
