Outlook - sent PDF files damaged

Hi,

I have Office 365 and some time ago I run into a problem, my sent PDF attachments were damaged. But this problem occured only to some PDF files. It means that if I sent 3 PDF files it might occure only to 2 files. At first I got it resolved by manually adding attachments (before that I just dragged files), but now is problem back.

Strange part is that, if I look sent items mail then there are all PDF files fine.

    Hi Mattias,

Your time is appreciated. If you have a online repair, you don't need to set up your account again. May I know if you have created a new profile? If so, you can try to switch to another profile. For your reference:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/switch-to-another-outlook-email-profile-be3b617f-3f64-43d3-9037-8313b431803c

Since you mentioned that you couldn't set up your work account, if it is an Office 365 for Business account, please try Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 tool. For your reference:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/fix-outlook-and-office-365-issues-with-support-and-recovery-assistant-for-office-365-12cd632c-d672-4782-b0ce-beb82b511525

If the issue persists, could you please share more details about it?

    1. Did you get any error message? If so, could you please provide a screenshot of it?
    2. Can you send/ receive emails using your work account?
    3. Please let me know whether the only issue is that you cannot find your previous emails in your work account.
    4. Can you find your previous emails in OWA(Outlook Web App)?

    Regards,

    Carlos

Hi I’m Linnell I'm a Independent Advisor here to help.

You might run a quick office repair to see if that resolves the problem.

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair...

Click on Select operating System and follow directions.

The only other thing that I have come across is the COM add in can cause problems

If repair does not fix problem

    Please try these troubleshooter:

    Start outlook In Safe Mode

Open Outlook in safe mode and then try to attach an attachment:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Press the windows key + R on the keyboard to open the Run window.
    3. In Run window and type outlook /safe (space between 'outlook' and '/'.)

If you are able to work with Outlook without any problem then the issue might be due to add-ins. In order to disable the add-ins follow the steps given below:

    1. Open Outlook, click on File <Options< Add-ins.
    2. Under Manage select COM Add-ins.
    3. Click on GO options beside Manage, uncheck all the add-ins and click Ok.
    4. Try to open Outlook and add Attachment and check if it works fine.

Then add the COM back in one by one to figure out which one is causing the problem.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask questions and let us know how it goes.

    Regards

    Linnell

    Hi,

It seems that I got excited to early. Problem is still there. I turned Add-ins off but it did not work. Sometimes are PDF files fine, but sometimes not.

    Regards

    Mattias

    Hi,

Thank you! For now it seems that the problem is solved. As it turned out I had 32-bit office but some of my Microsoft programs were 64-bit so there was error in syncing. I installed 64-bit version and for now it looks promising.

    Regards

    Mattias
