Shared mailbox sent mails remain in Outbox

We use a shared mailbox and a personal mailbox in Outlook, and Outlook is configured as Online mode. In recent days, I found many mails I used shared mailbox to send out appear in Outbox of my personal mailbox, it confused me and I am not sure if those mail are sent or not. Anyone has any idea on this? And how to fix? Thanks a lot.

I'm having the same problem, but it's not like A.User said. My emails that I send from the shared inboxes, do not show up in the sent items of that shared inbox. We need to often see what others in our group have sent, so this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

I set up and added the inboxes like Microsoft has said.

I don't think it's a memory issue, as I am new to this company, and other people from the shared inboxes do not have the same problem.

We have a similar issue with shared mailbox behavior when mail is sent from it while in Online mode.  (Cached Exchange Mode box is not checked).  I was always under the impression that the Outbox was only used when the client sends the mail from a mailbox in Cached mode (Connected to: ).

All sent emails that are "stuck" in the Outbox folder were sent and delivered and they are also in the Sent Items folder of the Shared Mailbox.  If you view the shared mailbox in OWA there is no visible Outbox which makes sense because there is no need to synch the email up from a fat client.  It is simply dropped into the Mailbox server's submission queue and then a copy is put in the Sent Items of the mailbox.

I suspect this may be a bug in the Outlook client as it seems to think an Outbox is needed, which is not true for mailboxes accessed in Online mode.

    Hi Coldwell,

Thanks for your response. After consulting our IT support, unfortunately as end-user, we are not able to get access to OWA. And the problem we encountered is not like a permission issue, but something to the mailbox storage capacity. So we will try to free up some space and keep monitoring to verify.

Thank you for your kindly advice.

    Howard

    Hi Howard,

First, please try to send emails from the shared mailbox via the Outlook web access to see how it goes.

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-a-shared-mailbox-to-outlook-on-the-web-98b5a90d-4e38-415d-a030-f09a4cd28207

If you fail to send the email out, this issue could be caused by permission. Please sign in Office 365 and go to Exchange Admin Center(EAC)->recipients->shared, click and edit the shared mailbox. Then go to mailbox delegation, add your account to the Sent As permission list. Then wait a few hours to take effect. Then you will be able to send emails as the shared mailbox.

If you can send emails from the shared mailbox via Outlook web access. Please make sure the steps you took as the following article shows and try again.

    Best regards,
