How do I sync between Outlook Desktop and Outlook for iOS

I recently made the switch from MacOS to Windows 10 and purchased Office with it.  With that, I got Outlook, which I love but I am trying to get two things done which I cant.  See below:

-Email provider @gmail.com (personal)

  1. I would like Outlook email to sync between desktop and mobile versions.  Meaning if I delete an email in the desktop version it will also delete in the mobile Outlook app.  It only works the opposite way currently.
  2. I would like the calendar to sync between the two.  I should not have to manage two calendars for the same profile with the same company.  That would be dumb.  How do I set this up?  I do not want to use the apple calendar/email or anything.  I would only like to use Outlook programs.

PLEASE HELP!  I have been trying to fix this for a week and can't figure it out.

Thank you!

    Hi PBotwick,

I'm Anna, an Independent Advisor trying to help.

I have ran into the same issue as yours recently when I had to configure my company email to Outlook desktop and to my iPhone. What I did is to enable IMAP. After which, my Outlook desktop and Outlook iOS began sync-ing properly. The calendar on both Outlook devices sync automatically as well.

I would like to check with you if you have enabled your GMAIL IMAP? If you are unsure how to do this, please follow the steps below.

    1. Log in to you GMAIL account via computer browser (e.g. Chrome, IE, etc.)
    2. After you log in, tap the gears icon (above your email on the right-hand side) and choose Settings.
    3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and make sure IMAP is enabled (IMAP Access).

    I hope this helps you.

    Best Regards,

    Anna

As long as you allow both Outlook for iOS and desktop Outlook to automatically configure the account for your gmail mailbox, what you want for email will happen. Both Outlooks will configure an IMAP account to connect to the mailbox. With IMAP, what you do on either client will sync through the mailbox to the other client. Moreover, if you connect to the gmail mailbox with a web browser, anything you do in the mailbox will sync to both clients.

As for the calendar, unfortunately Google requires a subscription to their GSuite services in order to sync with desktop Outlook.

Hi I'm Peter an independent advisor, within the Outlook app, go to Settings > Tap the account that is not syncing > Tap Reset Account. Check to see if your account is syncing. ... From Settings , tap the account that is not syncing > tap Delete Account > Delete From This Device. Then re-add your email account in Outlook for Android or Outlook for iOS.

    Hello

A pleasure to help you as an Independent Advisor.

Regarding the query, I understand that you like to use the Outlook desktop app and the Outlook mobile app on your iPhone, perfect but the personal account you have configured in both applications is a gmail.com account or an outlook.com account. I think here's the difference.

Let me know the details to better understand and determine the cause.

    Regards
